The Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council on Tuesday said it firmly supports the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) adopted by China's top legislature on Tuesday.

The office said it would fully support and cooperate with law enforcement institutions to ensure that this law is fully implemented in the HKSAR.

The law was passed at the 20th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.

The NPC Standing Committee also adopted a decision to list the law in Annex III to the HKSAR Basic Law.
