The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will ease some of its social distancing rules, announced Chief Executive Carrie Lam at a press conference on Tuesday.

The decision comes following no new local virus infection cases in the region for 16 straight days.

Lam also announced a loosening in gathering restrictions on groups of four to eight for dining establishments. Schools will gradually reopen after May 27, she said.
