Hong Kong police arrest 8 people for unauthorized assembly on July 1

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) police arrested eight people on suspicion of involvement in unauthorized protests on July 1, the police said on Tuesday.

The League of Social Democrats said four of its members, including former lawmaker Leung, and Figo Chan were among the eight people arrested on unauthorized assembly charges.

The eight men arrested are aged 24-64 and include four district councilors, the police said.
