HONG KONG, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) on Friday reported 13 more COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong to 1,079.

All 13 patients, aged between 2 and 46, were imported cases from Pakistan, involving four females and nine males, according to the CHP.

Head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch Chuang Shuk-kwan told a press briefing that so far, 33 patients have been diagnosed with the COVID-19 among a total of around 1,100 people returning to Hong Kong from Pakistan.

Chuang said the proportion of confirmed cases among all returnees from Pakistan was relatively high but within expectation, and the number of imported cases from Pakistan is expected to grow.

The risk of community transmission remained low as all people from Pakistan would be sent to a quarantine center upon arrival in Hong Kong, Chuang said.

Hong Kong's Hospital Authority said as of Friday noon a total of 1,035 confirmed and suspected patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

A total of 28 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized in seven hospitals across Hong Kong, including one in critical condition.
