Hong Kong reports no new COVID-19 cases, 1,052 in total

HONG KONG, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong remained at 1,052 as no new local cases had been recorded on Saturday, the Center for Health Protection (CHP) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said.

Hong Kong had seen no additional local infection of COVID-19 for 23 consecutive days before two local cases and one imported case were reported on Wednesday.

Two new cases were reported on Thursday and Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong to 1,052.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, as of Saturday noon, a total of 1,022 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients had been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

A total of 27 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized in nine hospitals, among which one patient is in critical condition and three are in serious condition.
