Twenty-four cases came from an unknown source of infection, including staff of care homes for the elderly, students, staff of the Department of Justice, pensioners and housewives. The rest of the patients were part of infection clusters, involving three restaurants and several dance centers. Sixty-two people were added to the dancing cluster, bringing the total number of infected patients in the group to nearly 480. Six imported cases were reported in Hong Kong from Indonesia and Pakistan.

The HKSAR government announced on the same day that from next Wednesday, face-to-face classes and school activities in kindergartens and primary, secondary and special schools would be suspended until after the Christmas holiday. Private cram schools, which offer informal courses, will suspend face-to-face classes for two weeks.
