By awarding honors to those who advocate a plan to destroy Taiwan, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities were showing their true colors of betrayal of Taiwan, a foreign ministry spokesperson said in Beijing on Wednesday.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a routine press briefing in response to Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen honoring former US national security adviser Stephen O’Brien.
“If I remember correctly, the former senior White House official claimed not long ago that the US would rather destroy Taiwan’s semiconductor factories including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing company rather than let them fall into the Chinese mainland’s hands,” Wang said. “By awarding honors to those who advocate the plan to destroy Taiwan, DPP authorities in Taiwan show that their statement of love for Taiwan is false while betrayal of Taiwan is true.”
