Chinese tech giant Huawei is the biggest employer of graduates from China's prestigious Peking University and Tsinghua University in 2018, The Beijing News reported on Thursday.

The two universities recently released employment quality reports of their graduates in 2018, showing that internet companies are the top choices for the graduates’ first job. The biggest employer is Huawei, who recruited 167 graduates from Tsinghua University and 104 from Peking University. Tencent, NetEase, Alibaba and other giant tech companies are also popular employers.

Beijing is the first choice for work, followed by Guangdong Province, for graduates in both universities, the reports revealed.

Over 70 percent of the graduates with a bachelor’s degree in 2018 in both universities chose further studies, according to the reports. About 26 percent of the graduates with a bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University and 30 percent from Peking University chose to study abroad. The US and the UK were both top destinations.

Tsinghua University was ranked ninth and Peking University was ranked 20th in the QS Global University Employability Ranking 2019. In the Times Global University Employability Ranking 2018, Peking University was ranked 19th and Tsinghua University was ranked 52nd.
