Relocated households are entitled to keep their previous land for farming. Mr Wang and his wife start the day by visiting their own land after sending their grandson to school in the morning.
To ensure an income for the migrants, many labor-intensive enterprises have been introduced to provide job opportunities, and favorable polices have been formulated for immigrants to start their own business. Mr Wang’s daughter set up a cake shop on a commercial street of the new area.
Henan Province plans to relocate all the 243,200 people living in the low-lying areas of the floodplain at the greatest risk within three years, and the final task will be finished in 2020, according to the schedule. (Compiled by Liu Luolin)
