18 percent

Central China’s Anhui Province launched a pilot project last week to suspend bulks of operations during autumn- and winter- seasons when fuel consumption is high and air pollution escalates, aiming to reach the national target of reducing PM2.5 by at least 18 percent between 2015-2020.

The heavy-industry-intense province will monitor the respective volumes of industries that include steel, building materials and foundry, and arrange new pollution-restricted production plans.

Unavoidably the project may curb the production of cement, experts said, yet moderate demand from neighboring provinces will help Anhui  weather the difficulties.
