Chinese jump rope teams won 39 gold medals at the World Jump Rope Championships (WJRC) last month. It was reported that when China’s anthem was played, the Chinese team members were holding back tears, proud and excited.

But the gold medals did not come easy.

The team’s coach Li Xiaoning recalled that between training sessions, team members quickly fell asleep when they leaned on the wall.

“Daily training was held from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning and 4:30 to 5:20 in the afternoon. This included push-ups and sit-ups after homework at night at home,” a young boy said.

Netizens were all dazzled after watching their videos. They were astonished by the leaping speed, saying that they were as fast as a storm surge.

“So fast! Unable to count!”

“Wow! Where is the rope? I cannot see!”

“Oh my gosh! Incredibly cool!”

This is the first time China has competed in the international event. This year’s WJRC was held from July 1-10 in Orlando, Florida. More than 800 athletes from 29 countries and regions competed.
