BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay a state visit to China from Sept. 10 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced here Thursday.

During Tokayev's visit to China, President Xi will hold talks with Tokayev and both of them will attend a signing ceremony and welcoming banquet, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang told a press briefing Thursday.

Premier Li Keqiang and Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will also meet with Tokayev, Geng said.

Noting that China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners, Geng said China attaches great importance to Tokayev's first state visit to China.

The two heads of state will sign and issue important political documents, which will make a comprehensive summary of and chart the course for China-Kazakhstan relations, Geng said.

Relevant departments of the two countries will also sign a series of important cooperation documents and hold supporting activities on economy, trade and culture.

"China hopes Tokayev's visit will achieve fruitful results, inject new impetus into the development of China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership, promote the joint building of the Belt and Road and achieve new results for the benefit of the two peoples," Geng said.
