Huang Zhiwei, a community policeman in Baoshan, Yunnan Province, is known as a "daddy" to children in the housing complexes that he oversees whose parents have moved to big cities to work.

The 40-year-old helps many children whose parents left home to work in bigger cities.

Wang Chao is among these left-behind children.
In 2017, when Wang was almost 12 years old, his parents left for the big city to work, leaving Wang and his grandparents at home.
After learning of Wang's situation, Huang started to take care Wang by helping him with homework, playing games with him and solving problems in his life. During the six years he spent with the young boy, Huang's biggest wish was to let children like Wang to feel parental-like love despite their situation.
Now, Wang is trying to get into college. He still often calls Huang over the phone and shares with him stories about his boarding school. Huang is most proud of the boy's dream. "I'd like be a policeman just like my 'police daddy' in the future!"
