This year, the Labor Day holiday will be expanded to four days, general office of the State Council said in a news release on Friday morning.

The pre-planned one-day break falling on May 1 will be adjusted to a four-day holiday starting on May 1 and extending to May 4, according to the release, while April 28 and May 5 will be work days.

Tourism-related departments are urged to get fully prepared for transportation support and tour products supply to secure travelers a safer holiday.

The Labor Day holiday, used to be a seven-day break, was shortened to three days in 2007.
