On Oct. 9, the largest exhibit of the first China International Import Expo, the German Waldrich Coburg Machine Tool Enterprise's gantry milling machine Taurus arrived at the Yangshan Deepwater Port in Shanghai, Xinhua reported.

The gantry milling machine is 20 meters long, 10 meters wide and 8 meters high, weighs 200 tons and covers an area of about 200 square meters. To ensure on-time transport, the company dismantled it to fit in 12 containers, and shipped it from Hamburg on September 8.

It can process a variety of complex parts and is of great use to the automotive and aerospace industries. The most advanced machine tools in Italy, Spain and other countries have an accuracy of about 8 microns. The Taurus is more precise and can be controlled at 4 microns. In terms of efficiency, the machine can also reach three times that of traditional machine tools.

Founded in 1920, Waldrich Coburg is no stranger to the Chinese market.

As early as the 1940s, the company's machine tools crossed the ocean for the first time and came to China. After the reform and opening up, China's machine tool manufacturing industry all used its products as the working machine for the Chinese manufacturing industry. The company will bring their new products and new technologies to the expo.

The expo will be held from Nov. 5 to 10, and has attracted 2,800 exhibitor-companies from over 130 countries and regions.
