BEIRUT, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah, a Lebanese Shiite political party, strongly condemned the U.S. attacks against Kata'ib Hezbollah paramilitary group in Iraq, the National News Agency reported Monday.

The attack is "blatant aggression against the sovereignty, security and stability of Iraq and the entire Iraqi population, especially the popular crowd that had the upper hand in confronting and defeating terrorism," Hezbollah said in a statement.

"This attack also reveals the U.S. bad intentions as an enemy of Iraq and the interests of Iraqis and their aspiration for freedom, true sovereignty and a secure future," it added.

The U.S. military struck on Sunday five targets in Iraq and Syria controlled by Iran-backed Kata'ib Hezbollah, two days after an American contractor was killed in an attack.
