The Lei Feng Academy, unveiled Wednesday at the Lei Feng Memorial in Fushun City, will combine cultural resources about Lei Feng to create a variety of courses to spread the "Lei Feng spirit."

The academy covers an area of more than 12 hectares, and construction is currently under way.

"Fushun has many resources related to Lei Feng, who served in the army in Fushun before he died," said Xiao Yu, an official with the local publicity department. "Over the past 60 years, art work and research about Lei Feng have developed very well here, which will contribute to the education content in the academy."

Xiao said that the establishment of the academy would play an important part in spreading communist culture, and the academy would serve as an important base for practicing core socialist values.

Liaoning will roll out a variety of projects to pass on the Lei Feng spirit, including developing multi-media products and holding international seminars.
