MACAO, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The votes of Macao's Legislative Assembly by-election has been verified and the final result remained unchanged, the chairman of the by-election's general audit committee said here on Monday, after by-election candidate Wang Sai Man won a majority of votes.

The Chairman of the General Audit Committee for the Legislative Assembly By-election Kuok Kin Hong said the committee member had unanimously agreed that the final result remained unchanged.

According to an announcement made by Macao's Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election on Sunday night, the preliminary results of the by-election held on Sunday showed 822 ballots had been cast from a total of 920 eligible voters, with a turnout rate of 89.35 percent.

Wong Sai Man from Macau Business Interest Alliance received 813 ballots. There were five blank ballots and four ballots rendered invalid, the Electoral Affairs Commission added.

Sunday's by-election was for a seat allocated to the industrial, commercial and financial sector, which has been vacant since Ho Iat Seng resigned as a member of Legislative Assembly before he announced his formal decision to run for the office of the fifth chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
