With the precise connection of the last steel truss beams, the main bridge of the Niutianyang Bridge successfully closed in Shantou, South China's Guangdong Province, on Thursday, marking a significant progress in the Niutianyang Express project. (Photos: Shi Jiamin/ People's Daily)
The project, with a total length of 15.8 km, is an express passage connecting the north and south banks of the Rongjiang River, aiming to further optimize the local layout of the urban road network and improve the three-dimensional transportation connecting the Greater Bay Area.
The main bridge has a length of 955 meters and a span of 468 meters.
The two main towers in the water are 182.9 meters high, which are designed in the shape of local characteristics of Chaoshan.
