Trains connecting Beijing's sub-center to the downtown areas are extended, and faster trains are now running between Beijing and other Chinese cities, after adjustment made to China's railway scheme Wednesday.

The Fuxing (Rejuvenation) train G205, which connects the Chinese capital to the coastal Qingdao city in Shandong province, has significantly reduced travel time from five hours to three hours. The train's departure time has also been rescheduled to the late afternoon, enabling passengers to take the train after work.

All the trains on the Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway will adopt the Fuxing bullet trains, and travel time between the Chinese capital to the inland Gansu provincial city Lanzhou will be shortened by one hour.

Rail traffic inside Beijing has also been adjusted. Trains linking the city's sub-center in the eastern suburb Tongzhou district have been extended. S106, which previously runs from Tongzhou to Beijing Railway Station, will be extended westward to Beijing West Railway Station.

In addition, more trains will be added to northwestern Beijing's suburban line S2 to serve the upcoming international horticultural expo.

Meanwhile, some slower budget trains will stay to serve underdeveloped areas as well as give travelers more options. These include a train connecting Beijing West Railway Station to northeastern Beijing's Dajian, where several tourist destinations are located along the way.
