Dadiba village is located in the Ziyun Miao and Buyi autonomous prefecture in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province. Set deep in mountains, it was the last village in the province to be connected to the power grid and it has long suffered from poverty.

Thanks to China’s poverty reduction campaign, in the past six years, the 183 registered poverty-stricken households in the village have shaken off poverty. The village has new roads, houses and farms. A kindergarten and primary school are under construction. The village also has its own doctors that visit villagers regularly.

“Our life is better,” Zhu Changfu, a 67-year-old Dadiba villager, told the Global Times. “We are really grateful.
