The report of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong survey showed that the national security law provides stable protection for long-term security and prosperity in Hong Kong, China's Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

MFA spokesperson Zhao Lijian made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to the AmCham HK's chairman Jessica Bartlett's statement that there has not been a large number of US capital withdrawing from Hong Kong after the national security law came into effect.

According to a survey published by the AmCham HK, most of the chamber members interviewed said that Hong Kong will remain their regional headquarters in the next three years. Nearly 60% of the companies surveyed have already or plan to start business in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Many companies believe that the huge consumer market in the Greater Bay Area will provide important opportunities for profit growth.

"These facts defeat some unreasonable doubts and speculations against the national security law and indicate bright prospects for international investment cooperation in Hong Kong," Zhao said. "The law has brought significant benefits to maintaining a healthy business environment in Hong Kong, consolidating and upgrading Hong Kong's international status as an international financial, trade and shipping center."

China will, as always, welcome the continued growth and success of the business and industrial communities in Hong Kong.
