Nearly 200 parks reopen in Shanghai as epidemic recedes

SHANGHAI, March 14 (Xinhua) - A total of 198 parks in Shanghai have resumed operation as of Saturday as the novel coronavirus epidemic begins to recede, according to the local authorities.

All the reopened parks are required to limit the flow of tourists to the half of their daily capacity or half the total number of visitors they received during the same period in the previous years, said the Shanghai Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau.

Meanwhile, the instantaneous visitor flows in the parks, especially those that are in the flower season, will be strictly controlled so as to avoid the gathering of people as the epidemic has not ended yet.

By March 20, the remaining 335 city parks, except those temporarily closed for renovation and maintenance, will also reopen to the public, local authorities said.
