China's new energy passenger car market expects to see strong incremental momentum next year to increase by 400,000 vehicles compared with this year, financial media Cailian Press reported on Friday.

Tesla sold 130,000 vehicles in 2020, and the sales figure is forecast to reach 280,000 vehicles in 2021, said the news outlet, citing Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association.

Sales of mini e-cars will increase by 150,000 vehicles, and those of e-cars from joint venture automakers will increase by 100,000 vehicles. Additionally, middle- and high-end Chinese-owned brands will also see certain increases next year, Cui added.
