The working group dispatched by China’s National Health Commission (NHC) warned about the risk of further infections spreading to other provinces from Putian in east China's Fujian Province.
As of 4 pm Sunday, Putian recorded 32 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 32 asymptomatic cases, according to a press conference on Sunday.
Given the severe and complex COVID-19 situation, risks of new infections spreading from the region remain, especially among crowded places like residential communities, schools and factories, according to experts from the working group.
Among the 64 infections, 19 were children aged 3 to 12, as they were not vaccinated, which made chances for the coronavirus to spread more easily.
Experts ordered 30,000 people in Putian who have traveled outside Fujian Province from August 26 to September 10 to report their travel history to the local governments to prevent the spread of the virus as the Mid-autumn Festival and National Holiday approach.
