The first batch of patients were transferred to Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital on the morning of February 4.
Wuhan's newly-built Huoshenshan Hospital starts to admit first novel coronavirus patients who were transferred from designated hospitals including Wuchang Hospital and Hankou Hospital.
Huoshenshan Hospital, with a capacity of 1,000 beds, is a makeshift hospital dedicated to treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
The new facility will ease the shortage of beds in the city resulting from an increasing number of patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
The hospital was completed within 10 days, thanks to about 4,700 workers, putting in shifts day and night.
It was delivered to military medics on Sunday.
A second special hospital for the treatment of the novel coronavirus — Leishenshan Hospital — is under construction in Wuhan. It is expected to be completed this week.
