NHC takes over 14 temporary hospitals in Wuhan with more than 3,000 vacant beds

The National Health Commission (NHC) has taken over 14 of the 16 “Fang Cang” temporary hospitals in Wuhan as of Saturday, media reports said.

The 14 temporary hospitals have a total of 12,165 beds, 3,476 of which are now available. Currently, 8,689 COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms have been admitted by these hospitals, according to Wang Jian, an NHC spokesperson. 

From February 5 to the present, the temporary hospitals received 10,610 patients. Among them, 763 patients with severe symptoms were transferred to other hospitals. 1,100 walked out of the hospitals after fully recovering from theirillness. Some 11 percent of patients admitted have so far been discharged. 

No deaths have been reported in the temporary hospitals.
