Fifty medical professionals from over 20 hospitals in South China's Guangdong Province arrived in Hong Kong on Friday to support Hong Kong’s citywide COVID-19 testing.

Sixty percent of the team are experienced in supporting Beijing and Wuhan's coronavirus epidemic fights.

The team was established at the request of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government to battle the virus, said Duan Yufei, director of the Health Commission of Guangdong Province.

The first batch of mainland support team arrived in Hong Kong early this month.

Members of the team are prepared for the challenges, understand the differences in culture and testing techniques, and will comply with  regulations in Hong Kong, said Zou Weiming, deputy leader of the team.

The National Health Commission plans to continue to assemble mainland medical resources and send more support to help Hong Kong.
