Beijing on Monday publicized a list of 6,000 citizens who will obtain the local permanent residence permit by the end of year.

In April, the municipality introduced the points-based household registration system to attract outside talents. The much-coveted Beijing urban status is a crucial document entitling residents to social welfare.

Candidates in 2018 exceed 120,000 and primarily come from the surrounding-Beijing provinces. Those with good employment, stable homes in Beijing, strong education background and achievements in innovation and technology are more competent during the hukou application.

Beijing also provides temporary residence permits, entitling outsiders to the vast majority of local welfare such as basic social security, renting and purchasing houses and schooling.
