Hong Kong lawmaker Junius Ho Kwan-yiu was attacked by a man in Tuen Mun District on Wednesday at a district council election campaign sortie. The attacker pretended to be a "fan" of Ho and greeted him with flowers and compliments, but suddenly took a knife out of his bag and stabbed the lawmaker.

Ho issued a video statement from the hospital later that day, saying he was stable and out of danger. The attacker was arrested and an investigation is underway.

For months, the radicals in Hong Kong have been committing violent crimes. Though the scale of violence has subsided, the cruelty and destructiveness have become more and more incomprehensible.

This particular attempt, intolerable in any civilized society, is a serious threat to the personal safety of Hong Kong citizens, a blatant challenge to the rule of law, and a wanton violation of pluralism and inclusiveness.

The agenda behind this murder is obvious, that is, a small group of people who intend to create fear and intimidation to "kidnap" the majority of Hong Kong citizens in order to achieve their own political goals.

Ho has always been a stanch patriot who actively calls for the restoration of social order in Hong Kong and stopping violence according to law.

Refusing to yield to intimidation and slander of the rioters, his office had been smashed several times and his parents’ tombs destroyed. The rioters also carried out endless harassment, and even issued death threats against him.

Under the instigation of Hong Kong's opposition who beautify and rationalize violence under the guise of "separation of powers", the vicious thugs have apparently lost their minds.

In recent days, some people illegally intercepted vehicles, broke into houses without permission, and beat up people with different political opinions in the street, causing serious injuries. Some cut the neck of the police with sharp weapons from behind, beat up three mainland tourists, and set fire to a news agency.

The sinister intentions of the opposition were also clearly revealed, that is, to use violence to intimidate people, to coerce ordinary citizens with lies, to "silence" patriotic people with threats, so as to distort the "one country, two systems" principle, confuse right from wrong, fool voters and seize political power.

Ho didn't flinch in the face of the "red" dress, saying, "Although I am injured, I will still be fearless." Patriotic people and all the constructive forces who love Hong Kong will never let Ho fight alone. Hong Kong's just forces will rise with indignation and will surely become more and more united and stronger. Justice will prevail, which is the rule of law and the people's will.
