Over 1,500 battle forest fire in Liangshan, SW China

More than 1,500 people, including firefighters from Sichuan Forest Fire Brigade, local fire brigades as well as forest farm workers and villagers, have gathered to douse a forest fire which broke out on Sunday in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan province.

The blaze started at around 12:22 p.m. at the junction of Lipu and Gaofang villages in Muli County of Liangshan in a mountainous area 3,200 to 3,500 meters above sea level.

There are no immediate reports of casualties.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
