After 65 days of suspension, three railway stations in Wuhan city —Wuchang, Hankou, and Wuhan stations — all resumed service, indicating the beginning of a large wave of returns. According to the data from Wuhan’s railway department, the number of trains heading for or passing by Wuhan on Saturday reached 260, with more than 60,000 people entering Wuhan.

On January 23, Wuhan shut down all outbound trips from airports and railway stations to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. With the lockdown of the city, thousands of people were forced to give up their plan to go home for the Spring Festival.

Now, the railway station services in Wuhan have resumed. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing are among the departure stations of trains to Wuhan. “Although the number of trains to Wuhan remains a quarter of a normal schedule, it means that Wuhan’s citizens who were stranded in other areas of the country can return home now,” said an official. It is reported that in the near future, the number of trains to Wuhan will increase, and they will bring more people back to Wuhan.
