BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Over 7,000 students from Hong Kong were admitted into institutions of higher education on the Chinese mainland this year.

As of June, 15,700 students from Hong Kong were studying at more than 300 colleges, universities and research institutions on the mainland.

Lei Saicheong, a junior-to-be Hong Kong student at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, said coming to study on the mainland provides him with access to quality education resources and enables him to unlock infinite potential.

"I want to study Chinese medicine in-depth as well as carry forward and promote Chinese medicine in the future," he said.

Mainland students are looking forward to entering the new semester together with their Hong Kong classmates.

During this summer, Fang Ying, a junior at Huaqiao University, went to southeast China's Fujian Province to support local education with a few Hong Kong students.

"These unforgettable social activities have made us close friends," said Fang, adding she's impressed by the passion and humor of her Hong Kong peers.

"We look forward to learning from each other and valuing our time studying together on campus," she said.
