HOHHOT, June 19 (Xinhua) -- More than 700 firefighters have been dispatched to put out forest fires that started Wednesday in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The fires broke out in two areas under the jurisdiction of the Alongshan Forestry Bureau and Jinhe Forestry Bureau in Greater Hinggan Mountain.

The forest fire station of the Greater Hinggan Mountain has dispatched more than 180 firefighting forces to the two sites to fight the fire.

Firefighters, who arrived at the Jinhe site at around 3:30 pm, said that the vegetation in the area is mainly masson pine and shrub, and temperatures at the location are high. Dense smoke and strong winds with changing directions have posed challenges in fighting the fire.

The Jinhe Forestry Bureau and the regional forest fire station have sent more than 500 firefighting forces to join the battle against the fire in Jinhe.

Due to being far away, firefighters have yet to arrive at the Alongshan site.
