Pakistan passes coronavirus resolution expressing solidarity with China

Islamabad (People’s Daily) – Pakistan’s Senate on Monday unanimously passed a resolution expressing solidarity with China in its fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP).

Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairperson Mushahid Hussain moved the resolution that expressed appreciation for  Chinese President Xi Jinping’s leadership that said, “in strongly leading what will be a very successful operation to combat, contain, and finally eliminate the coronavirus.”

The resolution acknowledges the “dedication, commitment, and courage” of China’s government and the Chinese in fighting the NCP.

“Pakistan fully supports the counter-attack against the coronavirus by China and extends full cooperation to our Chinese brethren in this difficult moment of the medical and health emergency caused by the coronavirus,” it also said.

Appreciation was expressed to the Chinese government for treating Pakistani nationals in China with “protection and comfort.”

According to a press release, the Senate Committee on Interior observed one-minute of silence for NCP victims on Monday.

Senate Committee Chairman A. Rehman Malik said, “We (Pakistanis) express our sorrows over the loss of many lives because of deadly Coronavirus and full solidarity with the people of China.”
