Fengtai, Xicheng, Haidian and Shijingshan districts in Beijing increased their emergency response to level two on Sunday in response to a new rise in COVID-19 infections, according to local health authorities.

Huaxiang in Fengtai district, where the Xinfadi market is located, has been designated as a high risk area, while some communities with new infections have been classified as medium-risk areas.

Communities in those districts have formed teams to conduct door-to-door investigations and carefully clean public areas. The opening of indoor venues for sports, fitness, and entertainment has been suspended.
