Party political advisor under investigation in Xinjiang

A senior political advisor and Party member from Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is under investigation, the region’s supervisory commission announced Monday evening.

Liang Chao, 54, deputy secretary general of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and member of the committee’s party leadership, is being investigated by the regional supervisory commission for suspected serious violations of discipline and law, said the commission.

He took the job in June. Before that he had worked in the region’s education bureau and in universities.
