PD Studio, where prominent voices from China and around the world share their insights, aims to invite key opinion leaders of culture, sports, business and academia to forge an engaging talk show.

The first episode features Wang Luoyong, the first Chinese actor to perform on Broadway. Last year, Wang became a household name by playing the role of Zhuge Liang, a famous politician and military strategist, in the internet drama "Growling Tiger, Roaring Dragon". His English reading of "Chu Shi Biao", a memorial written by Zhuge Liang also made him an Internet celebrity.

In the interview, Wang shared his experiences of taking on the role as Zhuge Liang and made a live performance of reading the English version of Chu Shi Biao in the studio. As a versatile actor that masters numerous foreign languages, Wang attributed his linguistic proficiency to a method in which he learned English by music. "Imitate the rhythm and pitch of the native speaker instead of simply learning the words," he said.

Talking about the popularity of "xiao xian rou", which literally translates to "fresh meat" but is used to refer to good-looking actors in China, Wang said the core of the issue isn't having just the star power, but raising the production quality of TV plays and stage performances.

"When the story is powerful enough, it will diminish the power of the star. You don't need the star to sell the ticket. If the play is powerful enough, people will come to see the play," Wang said.
