China strongly condemns US inclusion of Xinjiang police departments in 'Entity List'

China's national anti-terrorism leading group office on Wednesday voiced strong condemnation of and firm opposition to the United States adding Chinese entities, including police departments, in Xinjiang to its "Entity List.”

The office urged the US side to immediately correct the wrong practice, withdraw the wrong decision and stop interfering in China's internal affairs.

It said the measures taken by Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region against terrorism and extremism are aimed at eliminating their breeding ground and are completely in line with Chinese laws and international practice. (Xinhua)

Apple removes app which helped HK rioters elude police

Apple removed HKmap.live app from its App Store on Thursday after it sparked fury for protecting rioters or assisting them to ambush police.

Apple said in a statement that: “We have learned that an app, HKmap.live, has been used in ways that endanger law enforcement and residents in Hong Kong.

Apple verified with the Hong Kong Cybersecurity and Technology Crime Bureau that the app has been used to target and ambush police, threaten public safety, and criminals have used it to victimize residents in areas where they know there is no law enforcement. (People's Daily app)

Bilateral relations with China to reach new height: Nepal President

And Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari said he believes that the visit of his Excellency Xi Jinping will elevate the existing bilateral relations to a new height.

Bhandari said Xi’s visit to Nepal is of high importance, and that the Nepalese people have been doing all  the necessary preparations.

Bhandari pointed out that Nepal and China have been enjoying excellent relations for centuries. (People's Daily app)

Wealthiest Chinese record surge in fortune

Jack Ma and his family took the crown of richest Chinese individuals with a total fortune of 275 billion yuan ($38.56 billion) followed by Ma Huateng, 260 billion yuan, and Xu Jiayin, 210 billion yuan, according to the 2019 LEXUS·Hurun China Rich List issued by Hurun Research Institute on Thursday.

However, the number of people on the list continued to shrink for two consecutive years, with nearly 40 percent entrepreneurs dropping out of the list since last year. On the other hand, 19 people on this year's list saw their fortune exceed 100 billion yuan, the biggest jump. (China Daily)

IMF leader warns of Brexit pain

The new head of the International Monetary Fund has warned that Britain's exit from the European Union in whatever form will be "painful", and will add to the effects of an unfolding global economic slowdown. 

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned the situation would worsen if governments failed to resolve trade conflicts and support growth.

Georgieva said trade tensions had "substantially weakened" manufacturing and investment activity worldwide. 

She added that before the US-China trade war started two years ago, countries representing nearly 75 percent of the world's output were seeing accelerating growth. (China Daily)

Beijing’s new airport completes its largest airspace adjustment

The navigational intelligence for China's new Beijing Daxing International Airport came into effect at 2 am on Thursday. More than 200 airways and over 4,000 flight routes have been adjusted nationwide, forming a brand-new airspace operating environment, which is also the largest-ever scale of airspace adjustment in China.

The general purpose of this airspace adjustment was to promote airspace integration, adjust airspace structure, make efficient use of airspace resources and improve the delicate management of airspace. (Global Times)

For 1st time, Biden declares Trump must be impeached

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Wednesday for the first time that President Donald Trump must be impeached for abusing the powers of his office to help his own reelection. 

Biden made the remarks as part of a blistering 25-minute speech in New Hampshire, departing from his usual campaign pitch and signaling that he will aggressively confront Trump. 

This, as the president faces an impeachment inquiry rooted in his unfounded accusations that the former vice president and his son had nefarious dealings in Ukraine. (AP)
