Chinese Premier stresses higher level of opening-up

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang stresses a higher level of opening-up to drive reform, stimulate the market and optimize the development environment.

Li told local customs officers to use technology to improve their services by reducing clearance times and costs.

Li also asked them to be firm in fighting smuggling and preventing waste and inferior products from entering the country.

S.Korean journalists to visit DPRK for covering nuke test site dismantling

Eight South Korean journalists will visit North Korea to cover the planned dismantling of the North’s nuclear test site.

The visit was permitted at the last minute as Pyongyang received the list of South Korean journalists earlier in the day at the opening call of the inter-Korean hotline in the border village of Panmunjom.

Pyongyang invited journalists from China, Russia, the United States, Britain and South Korea to let them witness the dismantling of its underground nuclear test site, where all of its six nuclear tests were conducted.

Maduro gives top US diplomats 48-hour dead line to exit Venezuala

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro orders the expulsion of the top US diplomat in Venezuela.

This, in response to a new round of sanctions over Venezuela’s widely-condemned election.

Ordered to leave were US charge d’affaires Todd Robinson and senior diplomat Brian Naranjo.

Critics said the vote was riddled with irregularities.

Xiongan to become global IC center

Reports say the Xiongan New Area in North China's Hebei Province is going to be turned into a global innovation leader in the integrated circuit industry.

National-level integrated circuit innovation platforms, will be built there.

The report cited a notice on speeding up development of the integrated circuit industry in Hebei Province.

The Xiongan New Area will be developed into a modern city with relatively strong competitiveness and harmonious human-environment interaction by 2035.

Chinese 4G users surpass 1 bln: ministry

The number of Chinese 4G network users surpasses 1 billion in April.

This, as the country's mobile networks continued to rapidly develop.

Major telecom carriers China Telecom and China Unicom contributed a combined increase of 10 million.

China has the world's largest 4G network and hopes to add 450,000 new 4G base stations this year to improve signal coverage.

Beijing to train 100,000 Winter Olympics technicians

A training program for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games has been launched in Beijing.

The program is expected to train 100,000 people from 2018 to 2022.

Training courses include those for pastry making, ski gear maintenance, and emergency treatment at ski resorts.

The training program will be tailored to serve the Winter Olympic Games and the International Horticulture Exposition as well as address other human resource demands.

And Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend their first royal event as a married couple.

They took part in a Buckingham Palace garden party as part of Prince Charles' 70th birthday celebrations.

Prince Harry paid a moving tribute to his father for his charitable work over more than four decades.

The event was attended by 6,000 people who have been involved in charity work Prince Charles supports.
