China opposes US provocation in its territorial waters: spokesperson
China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to two US warships trespassing into China's territorial waters off the Xisha Islands.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang says the US warships trespassed without permission from the Chinese government.
He added that the Chinese navy identified the US warships, warned and expelled them.
He says the islands are China's inherent territory in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Territorial Sea and the Contiguous Zone. (Xinhua)

Auto firms announce price cuts in China after tariff reduction
Car companies operating in China say they plan to reduce prices by up to 392,000 yuan or $60,000.
The companies include Volvo, Audi, Lexus and Mitsubishi.
This marks the biggest price cut in China's auto industry in a decade.
The Ministry of Finance announced last week it would cut import tariffs on vehicles and auto parts starting July 1. (CGTN)

Thousands march in Berlin for and against far-right
Thousands of protesters march in Berlin in rival rallies on the anti-immigrant, anti-Islam Alternative for Germany party.
Police say the march organized by the party drew over 5,000 supporters while the counter-demonstrators numbered more than 25,000.
The rallies passed off largely peacefully.
But police say they had to use pepper spray to stop demonstrators from trying to break down barriers at one square. (CGTN)

Israel is building a barbed sea barrier to stave off infiltrations from Gaza.
This, as authorities boost maritime security measures against Hamas amid high tensions on the border with the besieged enclave.
The "new and impenetrable" barrier is being built off the Zikim beach.
That’s a few kilometers north of Gaza, and will stretch out into the Mediterranean.
The structure is a three-level fortified breakwater. (CGTN)

No casualties reported in 5.7-magnitude NE China earthquake
And no casualties have been reported after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Northeast China's Jilin Province early Monday morning.
The quake damaged more than 1,500 homes.
