China warns citizens in Vietnam after protests over economic zones

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam urges citizens to look after their safety.

This, after protests against a government plan to set up new economic zones for foreign investment.

The embassy calls the protests "illegal gatherings" that included some "anti-China content."

Reports say the government had asked the country's legislature to delay the approval of the draft law for further study. (China Daily)

China welcomes and supports DRPK-US talks

China welcomes the summit in Singapore between Democratic People’s Republic of Korea leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi says the summit is creation of new history.

Trump and Kim signed a document  after a one-on-one meeting and an expanded bilateral meeting. 

In the four-point joint document, Kim commits to "complete denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula. (People's Daily app)

WTO chief warns against escalation of trade tensions

World Trade Organization chief Roberto Azevedo warns of damaging "escalation" of trade tensions between the US and other major economies.

This, following a divisive G7 summit.

The EU has vowed to retaliate against US metal tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.

Tensions worsened at a Group of Seven summit in Canada after Trump rejected an attempt to write a consensus statement.

He also insulted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. (AFP)

They say the move was a key part of military reform and a crucial decision in the building of powerful, world-class armed forces.

The circular says the gradual phase out of such services had begun in 2016. (Xinhua)

NEV sales continue to surge in China

Sales of new energy vehicles in China continue to surge.

This, amid government efforts to encourage their use and ease pressure on the environment.

Data shows sales were up 125 percent from last year.

China offers tax exemptions and discounts for such car purchases.

Spain offers to take in migrant ship carrying 629 people

Spain is offering to take in a ship stranded in the Mediterranean with 629 migrants aboard.

This, after Italy and Malta refused to let the vessel dock in their ports.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced the city of Valencia would let the ship dock.
The refusal to accept the vessel was the first major anti-migrant move in Italy since far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini took office this month.

Salvini said it was the response to stop the business of illegal immigration. (AFP & Xinhua)
