This visit comes following the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and Democratic People's Republic of Korea leader Kim Jong-un. (CGTN)

'We have a deal,' Greece says on decades-old Macedonian name dispute

Greece and Macedonia reach a historic accord to resolve a dispute over the former Yugoslav republic's name.

The dispute over the "Macedonia" name had been a thorn in relations of the two countries at least since 1991.

That's when Macedonia broke away from former Yugoslavia, declaring its independence under the name Republic of Macedonia.

The row has stymied Macedonian attempts to join the European Union and the NATO military alliance in a region where the two organizations jostle for influence with Russia. (Reuters)

UN says China plays important, positive role in Korean Peninsula situation

The UN says China has played an important and positive role on the Korean Peninsula issue.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also hailed Tuesday's historic summit between the leaders of the US and the DPRK.

Trump and Kim concluded their meeting in Singapore by signing a statement, which included a pledge from the DPRK to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. (Xinhua)

Beijing condemns Washington's establishment of Taiwan office

China firmly opposes any form of official exchange and contact between the United States and Taiwan.

A spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council says the Trump administration has put itself into another political swirl of condemnation.

The remarks came after the opening of a new office complex of the American Institute in Taiwan.

Washington says the unveiling of the site is a symbol of strength of the partnership with Taiwan. (CGTN)

Spain king's brother-in-law loses appeal, gets 5 years for graft

And the Spanish king's brother-in-law is sentenced to five years and 10 months in jail for syphoning off millions of euros.

Inaki Urdangarin's revised sentence is slightly lower than the term he had been handed in February 2017.

The former Olympic handball player is expected to begin his sentence within days.

He was found guilty of taking millions of euros between 2004 and 2006 from a non-profit foundation he headed in the island of Majorca.

He is married to Spain's Princess Cristina. (AFP)
