But Japan’s Meteorological Agency says it has not issued a  tsunami warning.

BYD recalls more than 10,000 cars over defective airbags

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD recalls more than 10,000 cars over potentially faulty airbags.

The recall over ten thousand Denzas manufactured between Sept 19, 2014 and Dec 5, 2017.

The vehicles being recalled are equipped with Takata-made front airbag inflators, which have a potential risk of rupturing when the airbag is deployed. (Xinhua)

Melania Trump calls for child migrant action

US First lady Melania Trump is wading the controversy over the number of migrant children being separated from their parents.

Mrs. Trump’s spokeswoman says the first lady believes “we need to be a country that follows all laws,” but also one “that governs with heart.”

Nearly 2,000 children were separated from their families over a six-week period in April and May.

This,  after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a new “zero-tolerance” policy that refers all cases of illegal entry for criminal prosecution. (AP)

China will further promote public blood donations and expects to see 15 blood donors in every 1,000 people by 2020, according to the National Health Commission.

The National health Commission says it will also explore applications on the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence to accurately promote blood donations. (Xinhua)

China working on drones to assist firefighters

Chinese scientists and engineers are designing drones to help firefighters rescue trapped people, especially in high-rise building fires.

The drones can quickly fly into a building through doors or windows, search for trapped people and plan rescue routes.

A designer says the drones can be quickly flown into the fire to access the situation before firefighters arrive.

He says the drones can avoid obstacles, draw a three-dimensional map indicating the distribution of obstacles, and plan a barrier-free rescue route. (Xinhua)

Mexico quakes with joy over World Cup upset win

And thousands of jubilant Mexico fans partied in the streets of the capital Sunday.

This, after their team's shock 1-0 victory over defending World Cup champions Germany -- singing, dancing, blaring car horns.

The earth literally moved in quake-prone Mexico City when Hirving "Chucky" Lozano smashed home the game-winning goal in the 35th minute.

Seismologists said that they had detected an "artificial" rumbling, possibly caused by "widespread jumping" when the goal was scored. (AFP)
