The liquidity of China's financial market has been sufficient with financial risks generally controllable.

That’s according to the country’s central bank.

In a statement, the bank said it had recently injected money, including open market operations and the central treasury cash management.

The bank made the statement in response to market concerns on liquidity, after the takeover of Baoshang Bank.

The bank and the country's banking regulator announced last week that the joint-equity commercial bank in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region would be taken over due to "serious credit risks". (Xinhua)

Major earthquakes can cause sea levels to rise at a dramatically faster rate than climate change, making them a more significant concern to some Pacific Island nations, an Australian study revealed on Monday.

Professor Shin-Chan Han from the University of Newcastle discovered that sea levels in American Samoa rose at five times the global average due to land subsidence, a sinking effect in the Earth's crust triggered by the 2009 Samoa-Tongan earthquakes.

According to Han, it could be even more dangerous to the region than the impact of climate change. (CGTN)
