BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Porsche, the high-end brand of German automaker Volkswagen, will recall more than 2,000 vehicles sold in the Chinese market due to potential safety hazards.

Starting from Nov. 8, Porsche's China sales company will recall 2,083 cars in China, including 895 Panamera models manufactured between July 14, 2015 and April 19, 2016 as well as 471 Boxster models produced between July 1, 2015 and March 4, 2016, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).

The company has submitted its recall plan to the SAMR.

The faulty capacitance of airbags' electronic control units in those cars may accidentally activate or disable the airbags and pretensioners of seat belts, leading to a higher risk of accidents, the SAMR said on its website.

The company will repair the affected cars free of charge.
