The healthy and stable bilateral relations between China and the US are beneficial to both sides as well as the world, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said while meeting with a US business delegation on Thursday.

Premier Li met with the delegation led by Evan Greenberg, chairman of the US-China Business Council (USCBC), on Thursday.

The establishment of the USCBC was earlier than the founding of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, said Li, adding that for more than 40 years, it has played a constructive role in promoting the development of the bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.

He stressed that the healthy and stable bilateral relations between China, the world's largest developing country, and the US, the largest developed country, are beneficial to both sides as well as the world.

Following the consensus reached by the two heads of state, the two sides should adhere to the tone of coordination, cooperation and stability, and resolve issues through dialogue and consultation on the basis of equality and mutual respect, bringing the economic and trade relations forward along the right track, the premier commented.

He hoped that the American business people, including the USCBC, will continue to play a positive role in promoting the development of bilateral relations and enhancing mutual understanding among the people.

Li also emphasized that China will never close its door but open it even wider, saying that "we have fully opened up the manufacturing industry, and the opening up of service industry is underway".

China will create an international business environment based on marketization and laws. "We will equally treat both Chinese-invested and foreign-invested entities, making no exception, and further enhance the protection on property and intellectual property rights," Li said.

China has a huge market with population of nearly 1.4 billion. Business opportunities in the country will see great potential as consumption continues to upgrade. Thus, China's rapid development will also be an opportunity for the world.

Li continued, "We welcome companies from all over the world, including the United States, to expand investment in China, to promote mutual benefits and achieve win-win."

In response, the representatives of the United States said that the US-China cooperation is in the common interest.

According to the US representatives, business communities in the US hope to maintain contact with China. They neither want to see China and the US to "decouple" nor to see trade wars and tariffs.

It is hoped that both sides will seize the opportunity to reach an agreement of substantive content through talks, so that enterprises from both countries can engage in healthy competition and achieve common development in a fair and certain environment.
