Qingdao, a metropolis with a population of 10 million, completed its citywide COVID-19 test within five days after the discovery of local cases. The city’s vice mayor said on Saturday the an efficient working system is the key.
The high-speed nucleic acid tests helped the efficient working system, in which district authorities, police and volunteers worked together. Neighborhoods, towns and villages took vigorous action towards it. Supervision groups were organized to make sure that both quality and quantity of test samples weren’t tampered with, Xue Qingguo, the vice mayor said after finishing its city-wide testing for COVID-19 over the past five days and eliminating the risk with 10,899,145 negative testing results.
“Both qualities and quantities of test samples were under supervision. And more strict prevention and control measures for epidemic prevention is underway,” he added.
For strict management of imported cases, Qingdao will require entry personnel to register information and be in quarantine for 14 days. Meanwhile, quarantine inspections for merchandise goods will be strengthened as well. And for hospital development, Qingdao will improve the management of hospital and medical workers. Cross infection should be eliminated from the start.
