At around 10 am on Wednesday on Platform 9 of Guilin North Railway Station in China’s Guangxi Province, a man on one knee with a flower bouquet in his hand proposed to a woman who just got off train D2993. The crowd erupted in applause, offering their blessings to the couple.

The man who proposed was Li Junhong, a passenger duty officer at Guilin North Railway Station of China Railway Nanning Group, and the woman was Liu Yihong, a conductor at the Nanning Passenger Section of China Railway Nanning Group.

The day of the proposal happened to be the first anniversary after they established their romantic relationship. "This is both a proposal and a New Year's gift to you," Li said as he held Liu's hand tightly.

"I chose to propose at the station because it was the place where we met," Li said. They first met during the National Day holiday in 2020 when they handled the care of a passenger with a fever on the platform. The two exchanged telephone numbers to follow up on the passenger's status in a timely manner.

During that time, Liu often asked Li about the passenger's condition. It was at those moments that Liu's meticulous and responsible character deeply impressed Li.

After seeing Liu's train slowly leaves the station platform, Li left.

"We both work in the railway and are bonded by it. In the future, we will serve everyone at work, and also run a small family," Li said.
