Zheng Quanguan, China’s embezzlement fugitive, was repatriated to China on Wednesday following cooperation between Chinese and US authorities, according to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Zheng, born in 1957, was the general manager of the Fuda Real Estate Agency in Hunan Province in central China.

He was accused of embezzling 28 million yuan ($4.03 million) and fled to the US in 2015. He was listed on Interpol's red notice.

His repatriation proves fruitful joint efforts by China and the US against fugitives, said an official from a fugitive repatriation and asset recovery office of China's top anti-graft body.

In July, Xu Chaofan, the chief suspect in a 485-million-dollar embezzlement case, the largest theft case of bank funds since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, was repatriated back to China after 17 years in the United States.

The official said they will further strengthen coordination with the United States and other countries to hunt Chinese fugitives living overseas.
